COVID Announcement

As this unprecedented time in our lives continues to unfold, Caritas is monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic very closely.

We have implemented new strategies, protocols, and procedures to minimize risk. This allows us to continue providing high-quality, life saving treatment and education. Caritas remains open and continues to accept program participants. We are unwavering in our commitment to help individuals struggling with addiction and mental health concurrent disorders, especially in these uncertain times.

As a treatment provider, we are dealing with two very serious illnesses:

Coronavirus, which we need to keep outside our doors and addiction. We are admitting program participants to residential treatment care after heightened screening. We are committed to helping our program participants.

Strict guidelines and recommendations provided by the Ministry of Health, York Region Public Health along with standards of practice are being followed. We have implemented an extensive Infection Control Plan. However, this plan is being adjusted day by day. We are taking measures to ensure sanitization, and the health and safety of all our staff and participants are our priority.

Any individual requesting admission must provide a current copy of COVID 19 test results. Those who screen positive will not be admitted to treatment. Those who screen negative will be eligible for admission and further monitoring. We do have the ability to quarantine and/or isolate patients, if necessary.

Our staff are the front-line workers, so we are monitoring their health and movements, ensuring participants continue to receive the care and attention they need.

We have educated all staff and participants in proper hand washing and sanitizing protocol, as well as the importance of self-hygiene in the prevention of infection.

All families, alumni and mental health day program participants are participating in online group meetings in lieu of meetings at the administration centre at 241 Hanlan. There will be no necessary trips outside the facility.

The body temperatures of all staff and program participants are being taken multiple times daily, and any outside visitors will have their temperatures taken as well. We have postponed all on-site visits at this time.

Caritas has increased our facility’s disinfection. Along with scheduled deep cleaning, we are routinely and continuously cleaning throughout the day. All staff are wearing PPE. We also request that any workers needing to access the facility wear PPE when doing so.

We have ensured that there are an adequate supply and replenishment of all stock. All infection control resources including soap, hand sanitizer, cleaning products and toilet paper are available and maintained accordingly.

We realize you may have further questions about the incidence of COVID-19 and what protections we have in place. We understand that the COVID-19 outbreak is impacting individuals, families, and communities. We are confident that by working together and staying ahead of the outbreak as much as possible, we will all get through this together. Continuing to take the necessary precautions to ensure that both participants and staff, receive the highest level of care as the province, country and world navigates this global health concern. Please do not hesitate to contact our office 416 748-9988 with any questions and/or concerns that you might have.

Stay safe during this uncertain time.
